چکیده مقاله:
Edge computing is a decentralized computation method that addresses some of the problems inthe IT world such as the increasing number of connected devices to the internet which results ina large volume of data, slow response rate, high computational costs, and environmentalimpacts. The traditional cloud computing method cannot fully support the requirements of IoTand scenarios where different challenges such as network bandwidth, real-time computing, andresponse rate are a concern. The goal of edge computing is to remove these concerns bymoving a share of this computation at the edge of the network, near the end-user devices. Thispaper reviews the concept of edge computing and compares it to the cloud utilizing the SWOTmethod and highlights the key differences and opportunities. Although edge computing providesmany advantages, it also has weaknesses, risks and threats that are addressed.
