چکیده مقاله:

Climate change requires the identification of tree species that can tolerance water stress with less negative effects. On the other hand, the prevalence of allergic diseases has been increasing in the past decades.Allergens in the air are one of the causes of allergic diseases. Urban green spaces are a key element of urban management, which is very effective in the interaction between citizens and the environment, as well as improving human health. Lack of planning in urban populations in choosing ornamental species can be a motivating factor, especially in patients with respiratory allergies. In recent years, Conocarpus trees have been widely planted in the southern regions of Iran due to their low water requirement and adaptability to heat. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review the botany of the Conocarpus tree as a stimulating factor in causing respiratory disorders, as well as its allergenicity and its effect on human health. The review of various studies shows that Conocarpus is pollinated by the wind, and its pollen is considered a source of allergens. Also, recent studies show the existence of relationship between pruning Conocarpus erectus and reducing the number of hospital visits of patients with asthma during the flowering season of this plant, which indicates the potential allergenic role of this ornamental tree.
