The effects of spouses' social interaction on marriage stability

Marriage stability is an important factor in mental health of family members. Family as asmallest social unit has particular importance. Therefore, when there is suitable and strongrelationship between spouses, the family has better atmosphere and it reduces tensions insociety. The aim of this study is analyzing the effects of spouses' social interaction on themarriage stability (MS) and since spouses' social actions is equal to common relationshipbetween them, in this study we are analyzing the impact of interpersonal relationship,romantic relationships, sexual relationships, relations with relatives, economic conditionand child-bearing and parenting on the marriage stability. The method of this research isdescriptive one and its population consists of the couples of Tehran among them ۲۵۰couples selected as a sample and a researcher-made questionnaire which its qualitythrough the CVR with average of ۰.۷۸ and through internal consistency reliability withCronbach's Alpha coefficients equal to ۰.۹۳. administered on them through multi-stagerandom cluster sampling. After collecting the data, they were analyzed using Pearsoncorrelation test, linear regression and path analysis. The results showed that there is adirect relationship between independent variables and the dependent variable (relationshipstability). Multivariable regression analysis revealed that all variables except economy,child and childbearing had direct relationship with MS. But, in addition to the directimpact of interpersonal relationship, romantic relationships, sexual relationships, andrelationship with relatives on MS, all of the considered variables of stability except sexualrelationship had indirect effect on it too.
