This study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of Ovaprim™ and Ovapass™ hormones to induce spawning in Schizothorax zarudnyi. The female (n=۴۸; ۱۵۳۵.۱۲±۱۸۰.۰۹ g) and male broodstocks (n=۵۳; ۷۵۲.۰۰±۴۸.۳۰ g) were randomLy allocated in ۴ experimental groups including T۱: females which received ۰.۲, ۰.۵ and ۰.۵ mL /kg body weight (BW) Ovaprim with ۲۴-h time intervals, T۲: females which treated with ۰.۵ and ۰.۵ mL /kg BW Ovapass with ۱۲-h time intervals, T۳: females were injected with ۰.۲, ۰.۵ and ۰.۵ mL /kg BW Ovapass with ۲۴-h time intervals, and T۴: females were injected with a combination of Ovaprim (۰.۲ mL/kg) and Ovapass (۰.۵ and ۰.۵ mL/kg BW) with ۲۴-h time intervals. The amount of injection in the first stage was ۱۰%, the second stage was ۹۰%, and the male fish were simultaneously injected with the second stage of the females at ۰.۳ mL/kg. The results showed that the highest rate of fertilization was detected in treatments ۲ and ۴ (۹۳.۳۳% and ۹۲.۳۳%, respectively), which had a significant difference with other groups (p<۰.۰۵). No significant differences were observed between the treatments in the indices of relative and working fecundity and dry egg diameter (p>۰.۰۵). The lowest and highest latency period was observed in treatments ۲ (۲۷.۳۳± ۰.۶۶ h) and ۱ (۳۶.۲۰±۳.۷۷ h), respectively (p<۰.۰۵). The results of this study clearly suggested that the Iranian Ovapass hormone is highly effective for S. zarudnyi reproduction and might be successfully replace with Ovaprim.
