Estimation of the amount of sedimentation in the Dujaili River at the downstream of the Kut barrage in Wasit GoverementInsert

The goal of these studies was to study the characteristics of flow within the rivers. Numerical modelling provides a means for understanding the hydraulic flow and sediment transport phenomena. The study was carried out by using oh HEC-RAS model and field measurements data. The length of the river was surveyed for a distance of ۶۰ km and a section was taken for every ۱km from bank to bank. The number of cross sections that were surveyed reached ۶۰ cross sections. The field collected data includes the following measurement data. Carrying out field surveys along the path of the river to determine the dimensions of the river section from bank to bank and Measuring the discharge and water level in the river along the path of the river and for certain distances and a representative samples of the river bed and suspended sediment. The analysis of sediment particle size showed that bed material load for the study reach is is a silt-clay bed material and the amount of sedimentation during the operating period of the model was about ۱۳۲۰ tons, while the amount of erosion amounted to ۳۸,۲۲۷ tons.
