چکیده مقاله:

Purpose: Besides the fact that there was much research before ۲۰۱۸ on virtual teams (VTs), a lot of novel studies have been added to the academic world on VTs due to the inevitable effect of the covid-۱۹ pandemic and its impact. Knowing that with the end of coronavirus the importance of the VT concept will not stumble, now is the proper time to look back and gather all the new data as one comprehensive research on the critical success factors of VTs.Design/ methodology/ approach: The research mainly has been shaped by the most recent studies in this field. Due to the wide scope of research, we have applied two main limitations consisting of; firstly, journal articles only in English that were published between ۲۰۱۸ to ۲۰۲۲ with the keyword of “virtual team(s)” and secondly, we have omitted articles relating to gaming or educational institutes. It is noteworthy that using some older research for completing basic definitions was inevitable. Findings: Our research suggests three main critical success factors (CSFs) for high-performance VTs; leadership, trust, and training. Originality/value: Even though much research on virtual teams has been conducted up until now, there have been no reviews on this subject for research that have been conducted in the last five years, so we decided to prepare a comprehensive review to check new critical success factors in this subject. Thus, this research is the first literature review on this subject with the most recent data on it.
