چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Sexual dysfunction is one of the most common problems following menopause. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Cinnamon and Vitex on improving sexual function in postmenopausal women. Methods: This study was performed as a randomized triple-blind clinical trial with a control group. Probability sampling was used to assign postmenopausal women into three Cinnamon, Vitex and placebo groups of ۳۵. Sexual function index was utilized before intervention and ۲ and ۳ months after intervention to assess sexual functioning. SPSS software version ۲۱ was used for analysis. Results: The mean age was ۵۴.۴۵ ±۳.۷۳ years. The overall sexual function score in the two cinnamon and Vitex groups showed a statistically significant difference before and after treatment compared to the placebo group, (p <۰.۰۰). In Vitex group, sexual desire (p = ۰.۰۰) and arousal (p = ۰.۰۲) increased significantly compared to pre-intervention state, and this significant increase was observed in cinnamon group in terms of humidity (p = ۰.۰۰) and sexual satisfaction (p = ۰.۰۳). In the Vitex group, ۳ people were excluded due to headache and depressive symptoms, and in each of the cinnamon and placebo groups, two people were excluded from the study due to abdominal pain. Conclusion: Cinnamon and Vitex were more effective than the control group and can be used to improve sexual function.
