Production of haploid plants is an efficiant method in plant breeding programs, genetics and cytogenetics studies. Effects of cultivar, medium and plant growth regulators were investigated on anther culture of strawberry. This study was carried out using two commercial cultivars of satrawberry (Selva and Paros), three medium (MS, H۱ and N۶) and different concentrations of IAA and BAP as factorial arrangement in completely randomized design. Androgenic anthers (%), embryogenesis (%) and callogenesis (%) were determinded and recorded after ۳۰ days. Results showed significant differences among treatments for studied traits. In the Selva cultivar, the interaction effects of the H۱ medium and hormone treatments including T۳ (۲ mg l-۱ IAA + ۱ mg l-۱ BAP), T۲ (۱ mg l-۱ IAA+ ۲ mg l-۱ BAP) and T۱ (۱ mg l-۱ IAA+ ۱ mg l-۱ BAP) showed the highest androgenic anthers (۶۷.۸%, ۵۹.۶% and ۵۴.۳%, respectively). In the Paros cultivar, the interaction effect of H۱ medium × hormone treatments including T۵ (۳ mg l-۱ IAA+ ۲ mg l-۱ BAP) and T۳ (۲ mg l-۱ IAA + ۱ mg l-۱ BAP) showed the highest androgenic anthers (۷۰.۵% and ۶۷.۷%, respectively). Interaction of T۳ × H۱ medium produced the highest embryogenesis in both cultivars (Selva: ۳۷.۸% and Paros: ۴۲.۸%). This treatment was determined as suitable treatment for anther culture in both cultivars.
