چکیده مقاله:

This survey was carried out to determine the infection rate of Coenurus cerebralis in Urmia abattoir, West Azerbaijan, Iran. A total of ۴۰۲ sheep heads were examined and the number of C. cerebralis cysts per each head was recorded. Thirty three sheep heads were examined each month during ۱۲ months from ۲۰۰۶ to ۲۰۰۷. Of ۴۰۲ heads, a number of ۷۵ heads (۱۸.۶۵%) were infected with C. cerebralis. The cysts located in the left and right hemispheres and cerebellum were ۵۴.۶۳%, ۴۰.۲۰% and ۵.۱۵%, respectively. The infected heads contained ۱-۴ cysts. The highest and lowest prevalence were detected in sheep in March (۴۲.۴۲%) and in July (۲.۹۴%), respectively. The infection rates according to age of sheep were ۴۲.۰۲% in ۰.۵ to ۲ years, ۲۲.۵۰% in ۲ to ۴ years and ۸.۹۲% in older than ۴ years. The age specific infection rates among age groups were significantly differed (P < ۰.۰۵). Infection rate in Haraki breed (۲۷.۷۷%) was higher comparing to the rate in the Ghezel breed (۲۱.۱۳%) and Makoie breed (۲۳.۹۱%). However differences between sheep breeds were not statistically significant (P > ۰.۰۵).
