چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most importanttypes of cancer. Studies have shown that this cancer is the fourthleading cause of cancer death in the world. Harmine (HA) isa therapeutic bioactive compound (a β-carboline alkaloid) inherbal medicines specially in Peganum harmala L. with widerange of biological potential including anticancer properties. Methods: In the current survey the anticancer potential of HAin pancreatic cancer cell and normal human fibroblast were investigatedusing MTT assay. Furthermore, the proapoptotic impact(Bax and Bcl۲ genes) were analyzed using Real time PCR.Results: Our funding illustrated that HA has significant cytotoxicityeffect on Pancreatic cell (IC۵۰ = ۶۷.۲۴ μg/mL) and notablyinhibited of proliferation of apoptosis through upregulationof bax and downregulation of bcl۲ genes expression. Conclusion: Our results suggested that HA might be utilized aspotential anticancer agent and perform in pharmaceutical andcosmetic industries.
