چکیده مقاله:

Background: In the past decade, research has focused on identifying appropriate interventions aimed at maintaining or achieving physiological aging and improving the quality of life of the elderly. This review aimed to examine and describe the published research on strategies to improve the quality of life in the elderly people.Methods: This study is a systematic review following PRISMA guidelines. Five electronic databases were systematically searched) PubMed, Embase, MEDLINE (OVID), CINAHL and the Cochrane Library), for English articles to identify research studies published between ۲۰۱۰–۲۰۲۳. The retrieved articles were screened at the title, abstract, and full text stages. The Mixed-Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used to assess the quality of quantitative and mixed-method studies. Then, two reviewers extracted the quantitative data of the included studies.Results: A total of ۵۳۵۵ studies were identified following a comprehensive search, and ۱۲ studies were included after removing duplicates and screening. ۷ main categories were revealed from the data analysis: Create a sense of purpose, recognize and treat signs of depression, find usefulness in daily tasks, make connections to improve quality of Life, stay in physical motion, stay in mental motion and look for opportunities for elderly people.Conclusions: It’s not enough to just be alive. Good quality of life is especially important for elderly who are dealing with chronic health conditions and major life changes. The elderly has the right to be at the center of the process of determining well-being and quality of life. The results of this study can help the authorities to provide strategies to improve the quality of life of the elderly.
