چکیده مقاله:

گستردگی قلمرو سلوکیان در شرق و نیاز آن به تسلط بر اتباع ایرانی، منجر به ایجاد پایگاه های حامی خود با مجبور ساختن اتباع یونانی-مقدونی به مهاجرت در درون سرزمین های شرقی شد. ساخت زنجیرگونه کلونی ها درطول مسیر های تجاری شرق و عملکرد سیاسی-اقتصادی آن ها سبب استحکام حکومت سلوکی و دوام بیشتر آن نسبت به حکومت اسکندر مقدونی شد. وجود کلونی های هلنیستی در آسیای مرکزی سبب شد تا جمعیت انبوهی از مهاجران یونانی-مقدونی به سوی این منطقه گسیل شوند که خود پنجره جدیدی به روی تجارت شرق به غرب باز کرد. مقاله حاضر، بر آن است تا با تکیه بر داده های باستان شناختی و متون تاریخی و به روش توصیفی-تحلیلی، نخست به روشن ساختن ماهیت شهرسازی سلوکیان و تفاوت کلونی ها و پولیس ها بپردازد؛ سپس علل ساخت و کاربرد کلونی ها در آسیای مرکزی و فلات ایران را شرح دهد. از آنجا که تمرکز پژوهش های گذشته بیشتر به نحوه ساخت و تجدیدبنای شهرهای سلوکی در سوریه و آسیای صغیر بوده است. پژوهش حاضر، سعی دارد تا بر این پرسش اصلی تمرکز کند که، هدف سلوکیان در ساخت کلونی ها و شهرهای مختلف چه بوده است؟ فرضیه تحقیق آن است که سلوکیان علاوه بر استفاده نظامی از این شهرها، به استفاده اقتصادی از آن ها نیز می اندیشیدند؛ چراکه جایگاه این کلونی ها که بعد ها به شهرهای بزرگ تبدیل شدند، درطول جاده های تجاری شرق بوده است که خود بر نقش اقتصادی آن ها افزوده است.
