When the string of insulators is used on HV transmission lines it always is exposed to electric tension during operation. So, due to the capacitance charge stored between insulators and structure; insulators and conductors; and between insulators themselves, voltage distribution and non-uniform electric field and the insulators near a live conductor suffer much more voltage and field tension than the other insulators. Therefore, the calculation of potential distribution and electric field along the insulators should be deemed highly important in terms of designing and determining the electrical functional operation of the insulator string.In this research work optimization of corona ring (or anti-corona ring) parameters and its best point to attach it to HV silicone insulators ۲۳۰kV, aimed to improve a uniformity of distribution in electric charge field covering the surface of silicon insulator are studied with COMSOL Multiphysics software.The optimization algorithm used in this study is an algorithm based on the voltage gradient-free so-called Nelder-Mead (N-M) method. Applying the modeling parameters and field calculations to COMSOL Multiphysics software, the data required for the calculation of the objective function are sent to the optimization algorithm. In the next step, these sequential parameters are produced by the said algorithm and continued before the optimization values are achieved.The feedbacks show that optimization leads to an optimal reduction of field intensity and a uniform electric potential on the insulator which can prevent it from wearing out and aging thus making the life span of the insulator longer.
