چکیده مقاله:

Substance abuse is a serious concern for society and families. Contrary to popular belief that addiction is a masculine phenomenon, it has increased in women. Many of these women put their children at risk when they become mothers. Due to the important role that the mother plays in the family bonding and the child growth, her addiction undoubtedly puts her child at serious risk. The purpose of this paper is to review the cognitive impairment in children of addicted mothers. A network of interconnected risk factors complicates the interpretation of children's definitive neurological results exposed to a variety of complex substances. Opioids, methadone and buprenorphine, methamphetamine, alcohol, nicotine and marijuana cause various cognitive impairments in children. Memory, executive function, verbal skills, attention, motor sensory ability, etc. are affected in these children. Also, the type of effect of substance abuse is influenced by gender and socioeconomic factors. In this study, various cognitive impairments are reviewed.
