The research instruments included Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) Competitive Anxiety State Questionnaire ۲, and Behavioral Activation and Inhibition Scale. Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and multivariate regression. The results showed that the behavioral activation system had a significant negative correlation with competitive anxiety. It also had a significant positive correlation with the cognitive emotional regulation. Also, the behavioral inhibition system had a significant positive relationship with competitive anxiety. It had negative significant correlation with cognitive regulation of emotion. According to the obtained results, it can be concluded that in wrestlers the activity of the behavioral activation system, predicts reduction of competitive anxiety and promotion of cognitive emotional regulation strategies.
