Comparing the Level of Psychological Hardiness of Athletes and Non-Athletes Students

Psychological Hardiness is an important concept in sports science and sports psychology, which refers to the endurance and mental and emotional ability of people in the face of sports pressures and tensions. This concept plays a very important role in the performance and development of athletes. The purpose of this research was to compare the level of psychological toughness of student athletes and non-athletes. The statistical population of this research included all female students of Sistan and Baluchestan University in the academic year of ۲۰۲۲-۲۰۲۳, of which ۱۴۰ were randomly selected as a statistical sample. To collect information, the questionnaire of personal characteristics and standard psychological Hardiness questionnaire of Sheard et al. (۲۰۰۹) were used. The face and content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by ۱۰ specialists and its reliability was calculated with Cronbach's alpha of ۰.۸۳. The results of data analysis showed that there is a significant difference in the level of psychological Hardiness of student athletes and non-athletes. According to the findings of the research, it is suggested that the coaches and sports managers of the universities develop educational and psychological programs, as well as create platforms and opportunities to develop psychological Hardiness and create a supportive environment for student athletes, so that student athletes can develop psychological skills, improve themselves and cope with difficult situations they face in sports.
