A Comparative Study of the Grieving Experiences in the Spouse of the Deceased Covid-۱۹ with Other Causes of Death in Zahedan Teaching Hospitals in ۲۰۲۱-۲۰۲۲

Introduction: Bereavement is an inevitable part of the life cycle. The purpose of the study was to compare the experiences of mourning in the wife of a person who died due to Corona with other causes of death in teaching hospitals of Zahedan in ۲۰۲۱-۲۰۲۲. Methods: This study was descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional and the statistical population included the spouses of deceased persons due to corona and other causes of death hospitalized in educational hospitals of Zahedan city in ۲۰۲۱-۲۰۲۲. A sample of ۷۵ people was considered for each group by available sampling method. The tool used in this research was the Bereavement Experience Questionnaire by Barrett and Scott (۱۹۸۹). The data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed using Chi-Square and Multivariate Analysis of Variance test. Results: The results showed that the mourning rate of the spouse of the deceased due to Corona is higher than that of the spouse of the deceased due to other causes of death. According to the weighted average, the highest average is related to the feeling of guilt in the spouses of the deceased due to Corona. The results of variance analysis showed that there is a significant difference between the two groups in bereavement and its components. According to the averages, the bereavement of the spouse of the person who died due to Corona has a higher average than the spouse of the person who died due to other causes of death (p<۰.۰۰۱). Conclusions: Considering the change in the way of mourning in the crisis caused by the COVID-۱۹ disease, it is necessary to know the correct ways to accompany the afflicted people.
