Examination of hematology and laboratory indicators in children with definite and suspected infection by covid ۱۹ disease

Introduction and aim: It is necessary to evaluate the ability to accurately distinguish cases of pneumonia caused by Covid-۱۹ from other cases of pneumonia in blood parameters. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to evaluate the ability of routine laboratory tests to differentiate pneumonia caused by Covid-۱۹ in suspected and confirmed patients with Covid ۱۹. Materials and methods: in this study, which was done in a cross-sectional analytical way. The information of all patients who tested positive for Covid-۱۹ or were suspected of this disease and who met the criteria for entering the study were recorded. Laboratory findings were compared between definite and suspected cases of covid-۱۹ in children. Finally, the data. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS version ۲۶ software. The significant level for all tests was considered less than ۰.۰۵. Results: The average age of the patients was ۶.۱۶ ± ۳.۹۴ years. ۵۶ children (۴۶.۷%) boys and ۶۴ children (۵۳.۳%) girls were studied. The amount of WBC (P=۰.۰۲۱), the number of lymphocytes (P=۰.۰۰۰), ESR (P=۰.۰۲۱), CRP (P=۰.۰۲۳), D-dimer (P=۰.۰۱۲), had a statistically significant difference between the two groups. . Conclusion: The result showed that the inflammatory values of ESR and CRP are high in children who are persistently infected with Covid-۱۹. Leukopenia and lymphopenia are also seen in these patients. These findings in children presenting with the complaint of Covid-۱۹ lead us to the fastest possible diagnosis and early treatment in these patients.
