The Effect of Saffron Extract Consumption Along With Aerobic Training on Glycemic Indices in Streptozotocin (STZ)-Induced Diabetic Male Wistar Rats

Introduction: Diabetes, as one of the most common chronic diseases and one of the main causes. Death is known all over the world. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of extract consumption. Saffron combined with aerobic exercise on glycemic indices of diabetic male rats. It was with streptozotocin. Method: The investigation method of this experimental study was carried out on ۴۰ adult male rats with an age range of ۱۰-۱۲ weeks and a weight of ۲۲۰-۲۵۰ grams.So from the induction of diabetes in rats randomly to healthy control groups, diabetic control, Diabetic exercise, diabetic saffron and diabetic exercise + saffron group were divided. The duration of the intervention was ۵ days a week and ۸ weeks with moderate intensity. After some time ۸ weeks of glycemic indices were measured, the data with Kolmogorov statistical tests Smirnov, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's follow-up test were analyzed. Result: The results showed that fasting glucose in the saffron extract group with exercise Aerobics was significantly lower than the control group and lower than the aerobic training group (p=۰.۰۱۴). Glycosylated hemoglobin in the saffron extract group with aerobic exercise. It was lower than the control group (p=۰.۰۰۱) insulin resistance in the saffron consumption group. With aerobic exercise, it was lower than the control group (p=۰.۰۰۱). Conclusion: It is concluded that probably both an aerobic exercise course and a course Consumption of saffron extract by reducing hyperglycemic indicators can prevent diabetes to control It seems that if aerobic exercise and consumption of saffron extract at the same time used, can lead to more beneficial effects in this regard.
