چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: People with hypertension are at higher risk of COVID-۱۹ infection and related mortality with it.This study was conducted to assess the epidemiological characteristics and predictors of mortality in patientsinfected with COVID-۱۹ with and without hypertension. Methods: This is a retrospective study, that compared epidemiological characteristics of two groups of patientsinfected with COVID-۱۹ with hypertension (۱۹۲۷) and without (۳۹۰۳۰) Hypertension who were admitted inAbadan hospitals. All patients with covid-۱۹ from March ۱, ۲۰۱۹ to March ۱, ۲۰۲۰ were enrolled into this study.Chi-square test was used for evaluation the differences between qualitative variables in two study groups.Logistic regression was also applied to identify predictors of mortality in patients infected with COVID-۱۹ andwith hypertension. Results: The prevalence of hypertension in patients with COVID-۱۹ was ۴.۷%, and ۲۴.۳۷% of COVID-۱۹related deaths occurred in these individuals. The mean age of covid-۱۹ patients with hypertension and withouthypertension patients was ۶۱ and ۳۷ years, respectively. Fever, cough, anorexia, fatigue, headache, andcomorbid diseases, such as chronic lung disease, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease, immunodeficiencydisease, diabetes, and thyroid disease were significantly more frequent in covid-۱۹ patients with hypertensionthan those without hypertension. The chances of mortality among patient with COVID-۱۹ were ۱.۸ times higherin individuals with dyspnea, ۱.۳۳ in individuals with cough, ۱.۲۵ in individuals with fever, ۲.۲۱ in diabetics,۳.۶ in patients with hypertension, and ۲.۲ in individuals with cardiovascular disease. Also, covid-۱۹ patientswith hypertension that had immunodeficiency, dyspnea and cardiovascular disease were at higher risk ofmortality. Conclusion: Hypertension is a serious threat to patients infected with COVID-۱۹. Therefore, in order to controlthese patients more precisely and reduce mortality in them, it is extremely important to develop treatment andprevention strategies.
