چکیده مقاله:

Background: Today, suicide is considered a common global problem and an epidemic event, part of importantsocial issues. The role of social and psychological factors in the emergence of suicidal thoughts is veryimportant. The current study was designed to investigate the relationship between suicide attempts and socialsupport.Methods: The present study is a review study that was written in ۲۰۲۲. Medline/PubMed, Scopus, and Web ofSciences databases were used to search for related articles. The keywords of this study were found using MeSH.In the first stage, a total of ۴۲ articles were found, after applying the entry and exit criteria, this number wasreduced to ۲۴. The inclusion criteria included: the article being Latin and the availability of the full text, and theexclusion criteria included: case report studies.Results: Social support, as one of the important criteria in explaining mental health, has multi-faceted effectson all physical, mental, and social aspects of people, which helps to prevent diseases and strengthen selfconfidencein people. On the other hand, the lack or lack of these supports provides the basis for despair anddepression, which can ultimately lead to suicide. studies show that there is a direct relationship between socialsupport and people's satisfaction with their quality of life. The existence of relationships and social support as asource of meaning in life can create love and interest in life and stability of social identity. On the other hand,Dissatisfaction with life, followed by depression and mental pressure, increases the desire to commit suicide inpeople.Conclusions: The collected information shows that social support plays an effective role as an important factorin reducing psychological pressure and removing stress from people. Considering these effects on the qualityof life and its role as a suicide-reducing factor, people should be examined in terms of social support in differentperiods of life and should be controlled and supported if a defect or disorder is identified. Any delay in thiswork causes more serious consequences and can eventually lead to suicide.
