Presenting a Model for Dealing with Vandalism in Sports Environments in Iran

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this research is to provide a model for dealing with vandalism in sports environments in Iran. METHODS: In this qualitative approach, grounded theory method was used. About ۱۵ people were selected and studied including professors and faculty members in the field of sports sociology, journalists, experts and sports managers by using purposeful sampling based on the theoretical saturation. The data collected and analyzed using semi-structured interview and in three stages of open, central and selective coding through Maxqda-۲۰۲۰ software. FINDINGS: According to the findings, causal conditions have ۳ main categories, including cultural and social contexts and psychological fields, and ۸ subcategories. The background conditions have ۶ main categories such as sense of anomie, improper government performance, weak management, marginalization in the media, feelings of anger and frustration in the spectators and external factors, and ۱۵ subcategories. The intervening conditions also have ۴ main categories including managerial and technical factors, political and regulatory factors, legal and team performance and teams’ behavior, and ۱۱ subcategories. Next, the strategies also include ۶ main categories and ۱۸ subcategories, and finally, the consequences include ۵ main categories and ۱۴ subcategories. CONCLUSION: According to the results, sports and sports environments have not been able to fulfill their role and function well in the society. Therefore, planners and policy makers must take codified, continuous and expert actions in the field of sport to control and reduce this phenomenon.
