چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Cumin, a popular spice with purported digestive health benefits, has been traditionally used to alleviate symptoms of dyspepsia, including bloating, indigestion, and discomfort. This systematic review aims to evaluate the existing evidence on the efficacy and safety of cumin in the management of dyspepsia, providing insights into its potential role as a natural remedy for digestive discomfort. Methods: A comprehensive systematic search was done in electronic databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus, using relevant keywords. Studies until ۲۰۲۳ were included. The screening process involved specific criteria, and data were extracted and analyzed. Results: A number of studies met the inclusion criteria. After evaluating the articles, the results showed that cumin supplementation or consumption of cumin-containing formulations demonstrated potential benefits in reducing dyspepsia symptoms, improving digestion, and alleviating gastrointestinal discomfort in some individuals. Adverse effects associated with cumin intake were minimal and generally well-tolerated.Conclusion: The findings of this systematic review suggest that cumin holds promise as a natural remedy for managing dyspepsia symptoms. While further high-quality studies are needed to confirm these observations and elucidate the underlying mechanisms of action, preliminary evidence supports the traditional use of cumin in promoting digestive health and alleviating gastrointestinal disturbances
