Determining Threshold Value and Sharing Secret Updating Period in MANET

In this paper, an attack model is proposed to implement safe and efficient distributed certificate authority (CA) using secret sharing method in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Weassume that the attack process is based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process. The proposed model is evaluated and anappropriate amount of threshold and updating period of sharing secret is suggested. In addition, threshold value effect on securityof the network which uses the distributed CA is investigated. Theresults may be also useful in security improvement of networks that apply secret sharing scheme
