چکیده مقاله:
The link between Urban Forestry (UF) and Iran goes back far in history, urban forests and greenings play an important role as cultural and historical features in the urban identity. Forest plantations started in Tehran in 1935 primarily to control dust, reduce air pollution, control erosion and provide some forest products. Planting forest around cities in Iran has been going on since promotion of industrialization and urban development in the 1960‟s. Since the revolution in 1979, the urban green resource has increased a lot in settlements and especially in Tehran. In Iran, the urban forest includes forests (or green space) in or around the cities and urban forest tends to include mostly single trees, groups of trees and woody vegetation. In recent years developing the network of urban and peri-urban forests and urban greens and parks in and around Teheran was occurred for several object especially their ecological benefits. In this paper, urbanization processes in Iran, key-actors and stakeholders involved in urban forestry in Iran, legislation for Urban forests and potential problems for urban forests are explained.
