There are some notable commonalities between the concepts of environmental security in Iranian traditional architecture and the main principles of SBD (Secured by design) approach which require exploration. SBD aims to reduce crime through the design of the environment and encourage architects and urban designers to design out crime at the planning stage.The purpose of this paper is to develop a three-level model for evaluating environmental security in Iranian traditional architecture from the perspective of SBD approach. For this aim, at first the environmental security factors are determined, and then in order to benefiting from one example of Iranian traditional city, Yazd city is chosen.This paper has been used two types of methods including: library-based method and Fuzzy ANP. The method which is adopted for Identifying the criteria and sub-criteria of the proposed model is analytic-descriptive and library-based. Also, in order to determine the relative importance of indicators affecting environmental security in Iranian traditional architecture, this paper proposes the use of Fuzzy ANP as a powerful Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method. The result of this research shows the similarity between the guidelines have been held in Iranian traditional architecture with the principles of SBD approach
