چکیده مقاله:
In this research CMC (Carboxy Methyl Cellulose) solution as a non-Newtonian fluid is utilized to study the gravity driven falling film shape on an inclined plate experimentally and numerically. Different solutions (1.1%, 1.5% and 2%) are prepared and their rheology is studied by PolyVisc Visco Star Series L rotational viscometer. Surface tension and contact angle is also measured by goniometry method. Utilizing image acquisition and image processing techniques, influence of flow rate, inclination angle and plate material (Ceramics, Glass and Aluminum) on film shape is studied. Simulation of this problem is also preformed by CFD techniques and Volume Of Fluid (VOF) algorithm. CICSAM (Compressive Interface Capturing Scheme for Arbitrary Meshes) differencing scheme is used for capturing sharp fluid-fluid interface. Plate material is taken into account by introduction of contact angle in the calculations and surface tension is added as a body force to Navier-Stokes equation. The experimental results show good agreement with CFD simulation.
