Analysis of Sacred Concept in Architecture

Qods means purity and Holy means a clean place which is mentioned with purity. There is no religion that is not competent for such live meaning and inner core and no religious has the merit to be religious without such a meaning. Hence, the usage of holy or sacred is an important and valuable action. The main focus of this study is to explore the concept of sacred architecture based on the relevant concepts and theories and it seeks to explain the sacredness in the architectural space by this analysis.Main questions:What is the meaning of the word sacredness Among the concepts related to sacred , which can be studied in the architecture space Is the sacredness intrinsic or acquired in the architectural space Research method:This study is theoretical with descriptive method. Information resources are in a library form by referring books and articles.This research seeks to explain the sacredness in the architectural space by referring the concepts related to sacredness. With such a foundation, sacred architecture can be understood and recognized.In fact, the space of a temple whether small and glorious essentially is a sacred space that a common, limitless and relatively unknown space surrounded it.The ultimate manifestation of the sacred architecture in the realm of Muslim is displayed in physical and semantic structure of mosques which represents the harmony, balance, order and visualization of the Unity of God. Because, activity is usually constant in mosques and the meaning returns to the personal, experience and motivation characteristics and these two cannot occur, unless in the physical architecture. On the other hand, the most important case according to the mentioned contents about the holy place and sense of place is the physics.Utilization type of space, human performance, and a specific event can destroy or create sacredness. Typically, physical form supplies the type of performance and utilization of space. But, this does not mean that physical form is the only factor. Intentions, motivations and performance of people are effective in this relation.The authors believe that sacredness of a place can be considered adventitious and creational.
