چکیده مقاله:

The repeated radiographs are one of the most important causes of wasted cost, time and increased radiation doses received by patients and radiation workers which could induce cancer risks. This study was aimed to determine the causes and the rate of repeat radiographs in volunteer private and governmental radiology departments in Yasuj. This descriptive- Analytical study were performed during ۱۴ days in volunteer private and governmental radiology departments in Yasuj with convenience sampling and all examination from various organs were studied. Radiographs were classified into three groups A, B, and C. The relation between various variable with the cause of the repetition was analyzed through analytical statistics and chi-square. In this study of ۷۰۰۶ studied radiographs, ۶۴۵۸ (۹۲.۲%) had the score of quality A and without any significant error, ۴۰۱ (۵.۷%) had scores of B which mean negligible error in their quality they were not repeated and ۱۴۷ graphs (۲.۱%) were received scores of Cand were repeated finally. In a similar study in Iran and other countries, the repetition rate varied between ۱.۸ to ۳۰.۸ percent. The reason that cause poor image quality and repetitions(C) was bad positioning in ۴۵ (۳۰.۶%) cases. The reason that cause image quality grade B was foreign body in ۱۵۸ cases (۳۹.۴%). The highest rate of repeating radiography was related to the abdomen and pelvic(۵/۶%). Repeat radiographs were not associated with work experience of personnel (p = ۰.۱۴۵) and the repeat rate in Analog radiography was ۲.۷% which was significantly higher than computed and digital radiography (p<۰.۰۰۱). Based on our results, the repeat rate of radiographs in Yasuj was acceptable comparing to other studies in Iran and other countries. The continuing education for radiation workers can be effective in minimizing the amount of repetition
