Treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with Stem Cell Transplantation in Infants a: Systematic Review

Introduction: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a type of malignant disorder that happens with a disturbance in lymphoid cells. Stem cell transplantation is transplantation with multipotent stem cells. The infant includes the age range of production up to one year of age. In this review, we aimed to review the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia whit stem cell transplantation in infants. Method: We searched PubMed and Google Scholar search engine with acute lymphoblastic leukemia , stem cell transplantation , infants keywords and 120, 5 articles were found respectively. All Articles were published from 2010 to 2017, they use human samples and all samples should be at birth until the age of one year and not a review. After investigating the titles, 52 articles were excluded and by reading abstracts 8 articles were excluded and 59 articles excluded by method investigating. At the end of reading 5 articles was included. Result: In 2 articles of 3 case report articles with one or two sample, the stem cell transplantation after clinical remission by chemotherapy were cause to complete treatment but one article has side effects on infant growth. One article stated that stem cell transplantation just have large effect on high risk patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia with p value: 0.01 Another article result indicates if stem cell transplantation occurs in earlier phase after clinical remission from routine treatment outcomes will get better with p value: 0.013. Conclusion: Until now in most of the studies on this topic have the low number of patients. Totally I think if the phase of treatment elements occur at different times or make more study on conditioning regiment with stem cell transplantation, better results will be achieved.
