Adjective Acquisition: A Comparison between Native Speakers and Iranian Beginner EFL Learners

In comparison with other content-word classes, the acquisition of adjectives has attracted relatively little attention. This essay is an attempt to shed new light on the difference or similarity of adjective acquisition between native speakers and Iranian beginner EFL learners, therefore a number of 165 beginner EFL learners were investigated for the pattern of color words and size words acquisition, the frequency of correct responses to the test tasks indicated that Iranian beginner EFL learners follow a different order in color words acquisition but the same pattern for size words acquisition. Furthermore tests results and gender was analyzed based on Spearman ro and Pearson correlation formula in Spss software, there was no relationship between gender and adjective acquisition, but a positive relationship between color word acquisition and size words acquisition was observed.
