Background: Bladder cancer is an important health problem and the second most common cancer of the genitourinary system and the eighth leading cause of death from cancer. Theaim of this study was to evaluate serum levels of vitamin D in patients with bladder cancer. Materials and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study which was performed on 99patients diagnosed with bladder cancer in Bahonar Hospital, Kerman, Iran since April 2014 to August 2015. The serum level of vitamin D was assessed and contributing factors weredetermined. Results: 99 patients were enrolled, the average serum level of vitamin D in patients was 20.18 ± 15.18, Serum levels of vitamin D in people with smoking and addiction was not differed from those without them. Also those with more aggressive compared with those with less invasive tumors showed no significant difference (P > 0.05).Conclusion: In this study, there was no significant relationship between serum levels of vitamin D in patients with bladder cancer according to the season, the invasion of tumor,opium use and smoking, diet and sex.
