The aim of the current study is to investigate the mechanical properties of Aluminum Silicon Carbide (ALl SiC) nano-composites produced using shock sintering. In the first step, the shock response of a mixture of aluminum and silicon carbide nanoparticles is studied. The effect of an initial pressure before the shock passage is also scrutinized. Initial pressure results in a lower temperature rise and higher shock velocity. In order to determine the mechanical properties of final products the tmiaxial tension test is simulated. It is illustrated that shock wave passage leads to the production of fiber reinforced nano-composites with superior mechanical properties. Comparing the Hugoniot curves of silicon carbide obtained in the current study with those available in the literature, results are verified.
