چکیده مقاله:

Background: Inferior vana cava diameter on expiration (IVCdexp) is associated with central vein pressure and used to assess volume status, so it is designated as a marker for determining dry weight (DW) in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis (HD). Materials & Methods: This is a cross-sectional study where we enrolled 27 patients undergoing chronic HD in Sheikh Children’s Hospital Hemodialysis Center. Patients’ weight, blood pressure (BP), IVCdexp and aorta (AO) diameter were measured before and after dialysis sessions. Changes in patients’ weight and IVC and AO diameter were compared, and data were analyzed using SPSS version 16.0 software. Results: The average age of participants was 12/21±4/38 years and of them, 21 (77.8%) were male. The patients’ weight before dialysis was 30.39±12.41 kg, and it reached 28.78±11.78 kg which was a 1.2 kg reduction (P-value).
