Current Upper Limb Prosthetic Practices

This presentation is a quick review of available prosthetic solutions for upper limb amputations, and the current prosthetic practice trends in contrast with true needs of amputees. A comparison between myo-electric and mechanical prostheses is undertaken; as well as synapses of Targeted Muscle Re-innervation (TMR), socket-less upper limb solutions, 3D printing and silicone restorations. Examples of simple solutions with great outcome are included to enhance optimal prosthetic fittings according to patient needs.
