چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: This randomized controlled trial aimed to assess the efficacy of a structured‐based education on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP), Self-efficacy and glucose profile of patients living with diabetes mellitus (DM).Methods: The study was an educational trial. Eligible patients were randomized to Intervention group (structured‐based self-care education; SBSCE) or control group (routine education program) by random allocation software. The intervention was conducted over four sessions within a 28-day period. All above-mentioned evaluations and laboratory measurements were carried out at baseline and after 3 months. Results: The measures after 3 months were significantly different from baseline in both group. The results of ANCOVA analyses show that significant increase in Practice (p=0.034) and Physical activity (0.001) in the intervention group compared to the control group. There was no statistical difference between the two groups in terms of HbA1c (p=0.565), Knowledge (p=0.481), Attitude (p=0.144), Self-efficacy (p=0.212), FBS (p=0.594) and 2hBG (p=0.964).Conclusion: As compared to routine education method, SBSCE was only effective in improving the level of Practice and PA in patients living with DM.
