Introduction to parts models of the psyche and trauma focused therapies based on parts models.

Parts therapies have become very common in the treatment of trauma in central Europe and worldwide. This workshop will take a look at the main theoretical and clinical principles of parts therapies, with their sources from psychodynamic and hypnotherapeutic as well as systemic approaches, who still seem to be in to some extent in contradiction. Ego state therapy will be compared with other parts models with particular focus on the concept of structural dissociation of the personality. The clinical consequences will be discussed and illustrated by casework. Conceptual problems and typical pitfalls will be outlined with specific focus on the problems of depersonalized automatic reactions and fixed ideas.
