COMPARISON OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION AMONG CHILDREN OF ADDICTED MOTHERS TO METHAMPHETAMINE AND MOTHERS WITH MENTAL HEALTH

Background and Aim : Methamphetamine addiction has a great influence on the patient s environment, due to impairment in interpersonal and cognitive functions .The relationship between mothers and children has a great influence on their lives and their future. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the anxiety and depression of children of addicted mothers to methamphetamine and mothers with mental health.Methods : The present study was a correlational study that was carried out using convenience method on children of addicted mothers to methamphetamine in district 13 of Tehran municipality. The sample consisted of 100 people (50 children of addicted mothers and 50 children of healthy women). Beck Depression questionnaire and Beck Anxiety questionnaire were used to collect data. Both standardized questionnaires have standard validity and reliability. After collecting information SPSS software used for descriptive and inferential calculations.Results : The results showed that there is a significant difference between the depression of children of addicted mothers to methamphetamine and mothers with mental health. But there was no significant difference between the anxiety of the children of mothers who were addicted to methamphetamine and healthy mothers.Conclusion : According to the findings of the study, the screening of the children of addicted mothers to methamphetamine and psychiatric interventions to increase Creation and depression are essential and can contribute to promoting the mental health of the community
