Drug prescribing is one of the medical tools that physicians use to communicate in drug treatment decisions. From this study, quantitative and qualitative study of electronic transcription method and knowledge of the necessary fields for its application. Methods: This study is a review article that was conducted in 2020. To find articles related to the research, use the keywords prescription, medical and electronic, and Persian equivalents in sid databases and PubMed and google scholar search engines. This search was done considering the time limit from 2005 to 2020 and the availability of the +article's full text in 1399. Then it was used to remove duplicate articles using the Endnote program. Finally, three researchers reviewed the title and summarized 25 articles, and several articles were thoroughly reviewed. Results: In the review of 10 selected articles, one of the articles mentioned the effect of 91% on improving the prescription and distribution system, 93% on the readability of prescriptions, 90% patient comfort about privacy, and 94% reduction of errors. In 4 cases, it has been shown that the use of an electronic prescription system, along with improving the transfer and checking the accuracy of prescriptions, makes the existence of all essential information for forced transfer. There was no manual or electronic version. Another article points to 96.6% of the need to learn new skills to work with the electronic copywriting system. In 3 of the reviewed articles, the most critical problems mentioned, including workflow interference, data processing delays, and the occurrence of new medication errors, and the need for learning, have been reported. Conclusion: Using the electronic prescription system generally increases general practitioners' flexibility, improves the management of prescriptions, and reduces medication errors.
