The influence of EFL students’ cultural background on their reading comprehension skill

This article seeks to find the effect of culture background knowledge on reading comprehension skill.The participants are senior of Bahonar secondary high school that have intermediate level of Englishproficiency. Two passages (one with familiar were prepared and read in class then get the test. Theevaluation was just among student that have same level in placement test (pre-test). The results wereanalyzed via Excel ۲۰۱۶ and SPSS Ver. ۲۴ software. The results showed that students were moresuccessful in answering The questions related to passage with familiar culture background. Researcherbelieves the importance of teaching target language’s culture in process of EFL teaching.
