چکیده مقاله:
By using Slavoj Žižek’s theories, this article seeks to bring the fantasy of The Promised King, existing inJ. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, under the scope of analysis. The ideological analysisof the novels will provide us with the key and fundamental fantasy constructs deep within the structure ofthe story that one of which is the fantasy of the promised king. This paper tries to shed light on theproblematic attitude of the ideology of the trilogy towards Aragorn as the promised king and one of itssublime objects, and the disillusionment of the ideological structure which is caused by its attempt toapproach directly to this object. The paper will conclude on how the ideology is founded upon thefundamental fantasy of the society as the corporate body.
