What is phonetics?The word phonetics has its roots in the Greek language: the Greek word phone means"sound"! Phonetics is the study of the sounds that make up the vocabulary of a language.Each language has its own characteristics. There may be sounds in your language that are notused in English and vice versa.One of the difficulties in learning English is learning to pronounce words and letters. In theprocess of learning English, you must learn them so that you can pronounce letters and wordscorrectly and speak in a standard and correct way.The English alphabet consists of ۲۶ letters, but in modern English we use ۴۴ different sounds.Therefore, from the appearance of the words, you cannot find out how to pronounce them,because some letters have different pronunciations in different words.Phonetics is one of the main branches of linguistics and it consists of three dimensions:Articulatory Phonetics Studying how to pronounce consonants and vowels in different partsof the mouth and throat Acoustic Phonetics Studying how to transmit speech soundsAuditory Phonetics Studying how to understand speech sounds
