چکیده مقاله:

This paper compares various forms of passion in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and CharlotteBrontë’s Jane Eyre. To do so, the relationships between pairs of characters from both novels will be analyzed. The novels were published in the same year by Brontë sisters but, this paper suggests, they are in contrast to each other in their consideration of the concepts of love and passion. What Emily Brontë depicts as love in her novel verges on pure passion, which makes it different from Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre, a work that highlights pragmatism and reason at the expense of passion.
