Investigating environmental threats caused by plastic waste and related international legal laws

Plastic waste is one of the biggest environmental problems in the world today, which parallels the economic growth and industrial revolution in the West and the growing process of industrialization, has exposed the environment to destruction and transformation. On the other hand, the need to regularize the behavior and actions of governments in the direction of the desire to have a healthy environment and prevent its destruction and destruction, encourages the members of the international community towards the drafting and approval of legal documents in this field and provides the means for the drafting and expansion of binding environmental legal principles and rules in national, regional and international dimensions. Although governments have independent sovereignty, international environmental law has considered a general obligation to cooperate with other governments as a principle in order to solve problems related to the international community. Based on this principle, governments are obliged to cooperate with each other to protect the environment in all circumstances and in good faith. Therefore, due to the importance of the topic, this study has been carried out in the form of a library review with the aim of investigating the environmental threats caused by plastic waste and the international legal laws related to it. The necessary information and data have been collected by using scientific search on the Internet and reliable databases and by reading and reviewing various Persian and Latin books and articles. In this article, while examining the principle of cooperation in public international law and the sources of international environmental law, dealing with the plastic waste crisis in the regional and global scope has also been discussed.
